Rapid Growth, Real Impact
In under 90 days, Rootwork has already incubated three transformative initiatives:
The Youth Services Exchange Collective (YSEC), a countywide collaboration strengthening youth-serving organizations.
L.O.U.D. (Latin Outreach Unity & Development), amplifying Latinx voices and cultural leadership.
ONE STRIKE, delivering pop-up youth and family programs across Kingston.
With its dual channels—homegrown initiatives like the PonckHockie Market and transplanted initiatives like YSEC, L.O.U.D., and ONE STRIKE—Rootwork has proven its flexibility and power to support diverse grassroots visions.
Filling in Record Time
“That Rootwork filled to capacity in less than three months tells us something profound,” said Keyvious Avery, President of THRIVE ON!. “It means grassroots leaders see this model as valuable, they trust THRIVE ON! to walk with them, and they’re eager to plug into an ecosystem that can help them grow.”
Next Steps: Scaling for the Future
While Rootwork’s waiting list reflects a short-term challenge, it also demonstrates the urgency of demand for this kind of infrastructure. THRIVE ON! is now exploring ways to responsibly expand the incubator, ensuring that every initiative continues to receive the deep, holistic support that defines the program.
A Community Ready to Build
The speed at which Rootwork filled shows that community innovation is not scarce—it’s abundant. What’s needed is infrastructure, visibility, and stability. Rootwork has provided that foundation, and the waiting list proves that grassroots leaders are ready to build more.
